Wyoming's on-street parking system layers state statute and city ordinance. Chapter 78 of the Wyoming Code of Ordinances adopts the Michigan Uniform Traffic Code for Cities, Townships and Villages by reference, which incorporates MCL 257.674 (Michigan Vehicle Code, Act 300 of 1949) prohibiting parking on a sidewalk, in front of a public or private driveway, within an intersection, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, on a crosswalk, within 20 feet of a crosswalk (or within 15 feet of the intersection of property lines where no crosswalk exists), within 30 feet of the approach to a flashing beacon, stop sign or traffic-control signal, within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing, and within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to a fire station (and 75 feet on the opposite side if marked). The City of Wyoming's Odd-Even Parking Ordinance (Ord. 7-24) requires alternating-side parking citywide from midnight to 6 p.m. every day from December 1 through March 31; on cul-de-sacs, parking is permitted only on even-numbered calendar days. The Ordinance is enforceable even when there is no snow. Block-by-block posted signs override the default rules. The Wyoming Department of Public Safety writes parking tickets and the Wyoming Public Works Division coordinates snow operations.
Parking violations are municipal civil infractions enforced by the Wyoming Department of Public Safety. Vehicles parked in violation of MCL 257.674 setbacks (hydrants, crosswalks, stop signs, signals, railroad crossings, fire-station entrances) are subject to ticket and tow at the owner's expense. Vehicles in violation of the Odd-Even Parking Ordinance (Ord. 7-24) are subject to a $30 fine per ticket and may be towed if obstructing snow-removal operations. Unpaid parking tickets accrue late fees and may lead to registration holds through the Michigan Secretary of State.
