Danbury, CT Property Maintenance: Property Blight (2026)

Danbury Code § 6-113 makes it unlawful for any owner or maintenance tenant to cause or allow a blighted premises to exist. § 6-111 defines a blighted premises as a building found to pose a serious danger, or one that isn't being maintained, missing windows or doors, a collapsing wall, a sagging roof, serious siding or foundation damage, fire damage, or garbage and abandoned cars on the property, plus buildings the Building Official calls dilapidated, the Police Chief says draws crime, the Fire Marshal calls a hazard, or the Health Director calls a sanitary problem. The Unified Neighborhood Inspection Team enforces it, giving owners 30 days' written notice to remediate before penalties begin.
