Grand Prairie Code Chapter 29 (Code Compliance) addresses property maintenance through multiple articles. Article V (General Nuisances), Section 29-73 makes it unlawful for any owner, agent, or occupant to suffer or permit rubbish, brush, or other objectionable, unsightly, or unsanitary matter to accumulate on property. Article III (Dangerous Structures), Section 29-30 addresses structures that are dangerous, constitute a nuisance, or are unfit for human habitation. The code compliance officer gives notice to the property owner directing abatement within 10 days. If not abated, the city manager may declare the property a public nuisance. Building and minimum housing standards require properties to be maintained free of blight and deterioration. Fences must also be kept in good condition.
