San Angelo prohibits accumulations of junk, debris, and unsightly matter and unsanitary conditions on any property under Article 7.02. Owners get seven days after notice to fix violations before the city abates and liens the cost.
Under sec. 7.02.064 it is unlawful to permit junk, debris, or other objectionable or unsightly matter to accumulate on any lot, occupied or not. Sec. 7.02.065 adds unsanitary conditions such as stagnant water, dumped waste, used tires, or foul containers. The city's Code Compliance Division (325-657-4409) investigates trash, weeds, and junk-vehicle complaints. After a violation, sec. 7.02.069 requires written notice giving the owner seven days to comply; if ignored, sec. 7.02.070 lets the city abate the condition and file a privileged lien for its costs plus ten percent annual interest. Junked vehicles inoperable over 30 days are separately regulated.
Failure to abate within seven days lets the city clean the property and lien the cost at ten percent interest. Fines run up to $500, or $2,000 for sanitation offenses, under sec. 1.01.009, each day separate.
