12, Snow and Ice, requires all snow and ice to be removed from sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, parking areas and other parts of the premises accessible to and used by persons on the premises. Where ice is frozen enough to make removal impractical, the owner must instead cover it thoroughly with salt, sand, ashes or a commercial ice-melting chemical. Either the removal or the treatment must happen within 48 hours after the snow or ice ceases to fall or form. The section closes with its own continuing-violation rule: each day the violation is permitted to exist is a separate offense.

Cherry Hill singles this section out for a higher first-offense fine than the rest of Chapter 15. 12 violation; instead, a first-time snow-and-ice offender may plead guilty and pay $100 without a mandatory Municipal Court appearance. 2(c) applies: a Municipal Court fine of not less than $100 nor more than $1,000, or imprisonment of up to 90 days, or both, plus possible court costs and restitution, with each day of continuing violation counted separately. 9, which separately requires icy conditions and uncleared snow on paths, walks, driveways and parking areas to be removed with reasonable dispatch as a general ground-surface hazard.
