Davie's franchised hauler, Coastal Waste & Recycling, provides residential carts. Town Code section 9-25 requires receptacles to be kept in side or rear areas, set out no more than 12 hours before collection and brought back within 8 hours after, and never left in streets, gutters or on sidewalks.
Container storage and set-out in Davie are governed by Town Code section 9-25 ('Receptacle requirements') in Chapter 9, Article II. Receptacles 'shall not be kept upon town or public property' and must be positioned in side or rear areas except within twelve (12) hours prior to regular collection, and must be relocated to the side or rear within eight (8) hours after collection. Where the Town authorizes curb placement, containers may be set 'between the curbline and abutting property line' but only within that 12-hour window, and 'at no time shall any receptacle, or trash be placed in streets, gutters or on sidewalks.' Section 9-26 requires receptacles sufficient to hold a four-day accumulation of garbage, and section 9-31 makes it unlawful to scatter or disturb the contents of receptacles set out for collection. The Town's solid-waste guidance (operated through Coastal Waste & Recycling, the franchised collector since June 1, 2021) tells residents to place carts within two feet of the street and at least three feet from trees, cars, mailboxes or poles before 7 a.m. on collection day, set them out no earlier than 7 p.m. the previous evening, keep the lid closed, place nothing on top, and stay under a 75-pound limit.
Carts left out beyond the allowed window, stored in public view contrary to section 9-25, or overfilled so the lid won't close are Code Compliance matters (954-693-8237). Scattering or disturbing set-out receptacle contents violates section 9-31. Damaged or stolen carts are replaced through Coastal Waste & Recycling (954-580-1292); stolen carts require a police case number first.
