Article 5-2A (Weed Abatement) applies citywide under the state authority in Utah Code Annotated title 10, chapter 11. " For large vacant parcels, subsection C lets the weed control inspector limit the required cutting to "not less than twenty five feet (25') in width around any structures and around the complete perimeter of the property," and subsection D allows an exemption for agricultural land not creating a serious fire or nuisance risk. When weeds violate the standard, section 5-2A-7 requires the inspector to serve written notice giving the owner 10 days to abate, with a right under section 5-2A-8 to protest to the civil violations hearing examiner within 10 days of that notice.

If the owner does not comply, section 5-2A-9 lets the city hire crews to cut the lot at municipal expense, bill the owner within 30 days, and, if unpaid, either sue for the cost plus attorney fees and interest or refer the itemized bill to the county treasurer for collection on the property tax notice. The nuisance chapter separately flags "noxious weeds located on vacant lots" as a nuisance in section 5-2-3(B)(10) when they create a fire hazard.
