Village traffic code requires pedestrians to obey traffic control devices and to cross at crosswalks on the right half whenever practicable. It goes further and bars crossing between adjacent intersections altogether unless official traffic control devices, a marked mid-block crosswalk or pedestrian signal, specifically permit it. Where a sidewalk exists, pedestrians must also use it instead of walking in the adjacent roadway unless the sidewalk is visibly unsafe, obstructed, or closed to travel.
