Summary
Huntsville makes it unlawful to make -- or, as a host, to knowingly permit on premises you control -- any unreasonably loud or raucous noise that disturbs a reasonable person's peace, at any hour of the day or night.
It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally or recklessly make, assist in making, continue, cause to be made or continued, or, with regard to premises upon which they have control or charge of, permit to be made or continued, any unreasonably loud or raucous sound or noise within the jurisdictional limits of the city. Unreasonably loud or raucous sound or noise includes sound or noise that:(1)Would unreasonably disturb, injure, or endanger the comfort, repose, health, peace, or safety of a reasonable person of ordinary sensitivity within the area of audibility; or(2)Is so harsh, prolonged, unnatural, or unusual in time or place as to: (i) cause unreasonable discomfort to a reasonable person of ordinary sensitivity within the area of audibility, or (ii) unreasonably interfere with the peace, comfort, or enjoyment of life or property of a reasonable person of ordinary sensitivity within the area of audibility given the overall context, which includes the nature of the area and its zoning.(b)The prohibition in subsection (a) above shall not apply in the case of the exemptions set forth in section 12-262 of this article.
