Mosinee, WI Public Conduct: Outdoor Smoking Restrictions (2026)

Mosinee's park-regulations article carries two narrow, event-tied smoking bans rather than a citywide outdoor smoking ordinance. Subsection 58-119(t) prohibits smoking within Edgewood Park and the city softball field park during school-sponsored events, added by Ordinance No. 2007-05 in 2007. Subsection 58-119(v), added later by Ordinance No. 2019-02 in 2019, separately prohibits smoking within Edgewood Park during organized youth sports activities, extending the restriction beyond school-sponsored events to cover league and club youth sports as well. Both bans are limited to those two specific park properties and to the listed categories of events; there is no general no-smoking rule covering the rest of the city's parks, sidewalks or outdoor public spaces.

The same subsection of the park article also bars possessing or consuming alcohol in the recreation center parking lot from one hour before to one hour after a school-sponsored athletic event at an adjacent facility, under subsection 58-119(u), showing the city's event-based approach to regulating both alcohol and smoking around youth athletics rather than a blanket prohibition. Enforcement of the park article runs through the police department and park staff. Because chapter 58 does not set a specific fine for a smoking violation, it defaults to the general penalty in § 1-13: a forfeiture of $25 to $500 for a first offense and $50 to $1,000 for a repeat offense within 12 months.
