Mosinee, WI Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Section 58-119 of the Mosinee Code of Ordinances lists specific regulations for city parks under Article III, enacted to protect parks, parkways, recreational facilities and conservancy areas within the City of Mosinee from injury, damage or desecration. Subsection (s), titled "Protection of brick paved sidewalks in River Park," bars motorized vehicles, bicycles, scooters, roller blades, in-line skates and skateboards from the brick paved walkways inside River Park, the riverside park along the Wisconsin River in downtown Mosinee. The provision was added by Ordinance No. 2015-04 on October 12, 2015, and the broader park-regulations section has been amended repeatedly through 2019, including a 2019 update (Ord.

No. 2019-02) that shows the chapter is actively maintained rather than a 1998 relic. The ban sits alongside two dozen other park rules in the same section, covering littering, glass bottles, camping, horse traffic and a 15-mph vehicle speed limit, all enforced by city police and park staff. Because Article III does not set out its own penalty schedule for park violations (a separate penalty applies only to Article IV municipal pool violations, under Sec. 58-152), a skateboarding citation on the River Park sidewalks falls back on the Code's general penalty at Sec.

That section makes any Code violation without its own stated penalty punishable by forfeiture, with escalating amounts for repeat offenders within a year and a jail alternative if the forfeiture and costs go unpaid. The rule is narrow: it applies only to the brick paved sidewalks within River Park, not to skateboarding on city streets, other park pathways, or the asphalt trails elsewhere in the park system.
