Oregon's Indoor Clean Air Act bars smoking within 10 feet of public-building entrances; Portland Parks goes further with a full smoking ban across all parks, trails, and natural areas under PP&R rules.
The Oregon Indoor Clean Air Act (ORS 433.835) prohibits smoking inside enclosed workplaces and within 10 feet of doors, windows, and air intakes serving such workplaces. Portland Parks & Recreation adopted a stricter rule in 2015 banning all smoking, including cannabis and vaping, throughout city parks, trails, golf courses, and natural areas regardless of proximity to buildings. TriMet platforms and stops are also smoke-free under TriMet code. Some buildings post 25-foot perimeters voluntarily; signage controls. Enforcement is primarily by exclusion warnings.
Smoking inside any Portland park, on TriMet property, or within prohibited distances of building entrances can lead to a parks exclusion, a state Indoor Clean Air Act citation, or removal from transit property.
