Public alcohol consumption is generally prohibited on Dallas streets, sidewalks, public parks, and parking lots under Dallas City Code Chapter 31-3 and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code. The TABC licenses on-premise consumption only inside permitted establishments. Dallas does not have a citywide open-container district like Fort Worth's Sundance Square, but the Deep Ellum Foundation and similar entertainment districts can obtain temporary special-event permits allowing open containers within posted boundaries during festivals. Possession of an open container in a vehicle is prohibited statewide. Klyde Warren Park, the Arts District, and Fair Park allow alcohol only at licensed venues or permitted events; outdoor consumption elsewhere remains illegal.
