Village Code Section 106-60 addresses skateboards head-on under the heading Riding coasters, roller skates and similar devices on roadway. The rule is broad: no person operating or riding roller skates, in-line skates, skateboards, any coaster, toy vehicle, scooter, or similar device may go upon any roadway in the Village at all, with a single exception for crossing a street on a marked crosswalk. While making that crossing, the rider is granted the rights and is subject to the duties applicable to pedestrians rather than vehicles, meaning normal pedestrian crosswalk rules, not vehicle traffic law, govern that moment.

The only geographic exception written into the section is for any street the Village has set aside as a play street under the authority given elsewhere in the traffic chapter; on a designated play street the roadway restriction does not apply, letting kids skate or skateboard in the street itself. Outside a crosswalk or a play street, the roadway itself, meaning the paved travel lanes used by cars, is off-limits, which pushes skateboarders and skaters onto sidewalks or Village-approved paths instead. 23, so it is a longstanding rule rather than a recent addition, and it sits in the same traffic article as the clinging-to-vehicles ban in Section 106-61, which separately bars skateboarders and skaters from grabbing onto a moving car.
