Skokie Village Code Chapter 98 prohibits parking recreational vehicles, boats, trailers, and campers on residential streets or in front yards. RVs and boats may be stored only in side or rear yards with screening, or in fully enclosed garages.
Under Skokie's traffic and parking code, recreational vehicles, motor homes, campers, boats, and boat trailers may not be parked or stored on any public street overnight in residential districts. Short-term loading and unloading for up to 48 hours is generally permitted for active use. Storage on private property is restricted to side or rear yards and must be screened from neighboring lots and the public right-of-way. Storage in the front yard or driveway area forward of the front building line is prohibited. Units must display current registration and be in operable condition. Commercial vehicles with weight exceeding applicable limits are also restricted. Contact Skokie Police Department Parking Division at (847) 982-5900 or Code Enforcement at (847) 933-8235.
Parking tickets for RV/boat violations typically range from $50 to $100 per offense. Repeated violations or storage in prohibited locations may result in property maintenance citations and daily fines until corrected. Vehicles may be towed at owner expense.
