Schaumburg restricts parking of recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers in residential areas. RVs and boats may be stored in rear yards or side yards behind the front building line, screened from public view. Front yard and front driveway storage of RVs is generally prohibited.
Under the Schaumburg Zoning Ordinance, recreational vehicles, boats, travel trailers, and similar equipment may not be parked or stored in front yards or forward of the front building line in residential districts. Storage is permitted in rear yards and side yards behind the front building line, provided the vehicle or boat is screened from view of adjacent properties and public right-of-way. RVs and boats must be maintained in operable condition and properly registered. Living in or occupying an RV parked on residential property is prohibited. Temporary parking in a driveway for loading/unloading (typically 48 to 72 hours) may be allowed for trip preparation. Contact Code Enforcement at (847) 895-4500 for questions.
RV/boat parking violations carry fines of $50 to $250 per occurrence. Vehicles not brought into compliance may be subject to daily fines and potential towing.
