Arlington Heights restricts parking and storage of recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers in residential areas. These vehicles generally may not be stored in front yards or on the street and must be screened from public view when stored on private property.
Under the Arlington Heights zoning ordinance, recreational vehicles including motorhomes, travel trailers, campers, boats, and boat trailers may not be parked or stored in required front yards or side yards abutting a street in residential districts. RVs and boats must be stored in rear yards, garages, or driveways behind the front building line and must be screened from view of adjacent properties and the public right-of-way. Vehicles must be currently registered, in operable condition, and may not be used as a dwelling while parked on residential property. Street parking of RVs and boats is limited to 48 hours for loading and unloading purposes. Oversized vehicles exceeding certain length and height thresholds may be further restricted.
