St. Peters, MO Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Section 240.060(E)(2) sits inside the same large-event framework as the animal restriction in Section 240.060(E)(1): once a City park special event, such as a festival, picnic, bazaar or fair open to the general public, is expected to draw five hundred or more persons at one time and a park use permit is to be issued, it becomes unlawful for anyone to be on bicycles, roller skates or skateboards, or riding a coaster, toy vehicle, motorized scooter, motorized play vehicle or similar device within the permitted portion of the park premises unless an area is specifically designated for that use.

The rule exempts wheeled-device use that is itself part of a show, exhibition or demonstration sponsored as part of the event, and it never reaches baby strollers, carriages, wagons or a disabled person's mobility device. Outside that narrow large-event trigger, St. Peters' code does contain one other wheeled-device restriction, Section 240.110(A)(1), which bars riding skateboards, scooters, bikes, roller skates or rollerblades within sixty feet of a memorial monument or memorial site, again a site-specific rule rather than a general ban. Neither the Traffic Code chapters governing bicycles and motorized play vehicles nor the Offenses chapter impose a blanket skateboarding prohibition on City streets, sidewalks or business districts, so a rider outside a permitted large event or a memorial-site buffer is not violating a dedicated skateboard ordinance.
