Full Breakdown

Under Columbia, Missouri's Unified Development Code § 29-3.3(vv)(1)(ii)(A)2, a Tier 2 short-term rental in Boone County must provide one off-street parking space for every two occupants of the dwelling unit. The parking must sit on-site on a code-compliant surface and cannot displace parking already required for the principal dwelling. Tier 3 rentals carry the identical one-space-per-two-occupants standard under UDC § 29-3.3(vv)(1)(iii)(B). Tier 1 rentals, capped at 30 nights a year in an owner's principal residence, are not subject to this added parking requirement.

Violations & Fines

Failing to provide the required off-street parking for a Tier 2 or Tier 3 short-term rental violates UDC § 29-3.3(vv) and can result in denial or revocation of the short-term rental certificate of compliance under § 29-6.6.
