Grand Prairie, TX Short-Term Rentals: Short-Term Rental Parking Rules (2026)

Grand Prairie requires every short-term rental permit application to include a site plan under section 29-186(d)(1) that identifies the off-street parking spaces the property will use. Section 29-191(a), part of the additional-requirements article for short-term rentals, then locks the rental to that plan: the maximum number of vehicles allowed on the premises cannot exceed the number of available off-street spaces. The owner or operator commits an offense by permitting, allowing, or even advising occupants or visitors to park more vehicles than those spaces allow, to park on an unimproved surface, or to block a sidewalk.

Occupants themselves are separately barred from parking a vehicle on a residential street near the short-term rental, and owners, operators, and occupants alike may not allow a motor home, recreational vehicle, boat, commercial vehicle, or other prohibited vehicle to sit on the rental premises or on a nearby residential street. Grand Prairie also requires an informational brochure for guests under section 29-191(b) covering parking restrictions along with noise and trash rules, so occupants know the limits before they arrive. A code compliance inspection under section 29-188 checks conditions before a permit issues, and section 29-187(a) requires a renewal applicant to satisfy the conditions of the short-term rental article before the director will approve a renewal, so a documented pattern of parking violations can block a renewal as well as trigger revocation.
