Full Breakdown

City Code § 28-43 requires the owner of the abutting lot to repair a sidewalk that has fallen out of repair, once notified by the City Manager under Code § 28-45. Repairs must match the materials and design standards set in Code § 28-42: cement, concrete, brick, or a combination, as approved by the City Manager. Under § 28-45, an owner who fails to act within 60 days of notice risks the City contracting the repair or doing the work itself, with the cost becoming a lien enforceable against the property.

Violations & Fines

An owner who ignores a repair notice for 60 days faces the City completing the work and placing a lien on the property for the cost, per Code § 28-45.
