Rock Hill, SC Sign Regulations: Freeway-Facing Signs (2026)

3(B)(1) of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Rock Hill sets freestanding sign size and height by road corridor type, and Interstate Frontage carries the largest allowance in the table at 164 square feet and 24 feet tall, well above the 48-square-foot Type A, 40-square-foot Type B, 32-square-foot Type C and 24-square-foot Type D corridor maximums. A footnote to that table imposes three additional conditions unique to interstate frontage signs: the property must have at least 200 feet of interstate frontage, each interstate sign must be located at least 200 feet from any other interstate frontage sign, and interstate frontage signs must sit at least 10 feet back from the interstate right-of-way line.

C. S. C. C. Highway 901 may double the size and increase the height by 50% of its otherwise-permitted individual freestanding sign. 7(L), which prohibits any new billboard in all areas of the City regardless of road frontage, so a business on I-77 can build a larger on-premise freestanding sign under the corridor table but cannot use that frontage to erect an off-premise billboard.
