Wyoming, MI Sign Regulations: Freeway-Facing Signs (2026)

Chapter 90, Article 7 of the Wyoming Code of Ordinances treats freeway-adjacent property as its own sign category, separate from the standard nonresidential sign tables. Under Sec. 90-709(1), an off-premises advertising sign (billboard) must sit on a parcel abutting the freeway and cannot be located beyond 300 feet of the freeway right-of-way, and a further 300-foot setback applies from any freeway access or egress ramp's intersection with the crossing street. Sec. 90-709(3) sizes those freeway billboards by proximity: up to 672 square feet per face within 100 feet of the right-of-way, dropping to a 300-square-foot cap beyond 100 feet.

Sec. 90-709(4) keeps freeway billboards apart from each other, at least 750 feet from any other billboard in any direction and 1,500 feet from another billboard on the same side of the freeway. Separately, Table 90-708 creates the 'Expressway Business Pole Sign' as its own permitted sign type, available only in the B-2, B-3, I-1, I-2 and I-3 districts (not B-1 or RO-1) and only for businesses abutting an expressway or freeway right-of-way. That on-premises freeway pole sign can reach 300 square feet, one per lot, and must stand at least 60 feet tall once its area exceeds 100 square feet, well above the 30-foot cap for an ordinary pole sign elsewhere in the same table.
