The code allows two signs, each not exceeding six square feet in area, to be placed in the front or side yard of the authorized sale location. Two additional signs, each not exceeding two square feet in area, may be placed on neighboring properties with the property owner's permission. All signs advertising the sale must have the address, street number, and type of permitted sale printed plainly on each. A garage-sale permit from the planning department is required, sales are limited to four per calendar year per address with at least 30 days between sales and no more than three consecutive days, held between 7:00 a.m. and dusk. Posting garage-sale signs on utility poles, parkways, or in the public right-of-way, exceeding the size limits, or leaving signs up after 8 p.m. on the final day is an infraction, with fines escalating from $100 up to $500 for repeat violations within a year.
