Johns Creek has no separate garage-sale-sign category. Yard/garage-sale signs are content-neutral Standard Informational Signs under Article XXXIII: no permit, max 16 sq ft total (one sign or up to four aggregating 16 sq ft), max 8 ft above street grade or 4 ft above ground, kept out of the public right-of-way and off trees and utility poles.
Johns Creek's sign code is content-neutral, so it does not have a dedicated garage-sale or yard-sale sign provision. A garage-sale sign is regulated as a Standard Informational Sign under Article XXXIII of the Zoning Ordinance. That definition (Section 33.3) limits the display to either one sign of 16 square feet or up to four signs not exceeding an aggregate of 16 square feet, with each sign no greater than 8 feet above the grade of the adjacent street or 4 feet above ground level, whichever is greater. The signs must be non-illuminated and temporary, may not be located within the public street right-of-way, and must be no closer than 10 feet to the back of curb of a private roadway. Section 33.17 (Signs Which Require No Permit) confirms that Standard Informational Signs in all districts require no permit and do not count toward the total signage allowed on a lot. Section 33.18 prohibits placing any sign in the public right-of-way or on a tree, utility pole, or similar structure, and Section 33.22 bars signs within 20 feet of an intersection (measured from the intersection of the two rights-of-way). The Park Rules separately prohibit posting signs in City parks without written approval. Georgia's O.C.G.A. 16-7-58 likewise makes it unlawful to place signs on public property or another's private property without permission.
Garage-sale signs placed in the public right-of-way, on utility poles or trees, or on government property may be removed by the City without notice (Section 33.21). Sign violations are treated as separate offenses per sign and may be punished by a fine up to $1,000, up to six months imprisonment, or both (Section 33.19).
