Under Sec. 117-226(4), garage, yard, rummage and carport sales are treated as accessory uses on residentially or agriculturally zoned property and must be registered in writing or by phone with the code enforcement department at least 48 hours before the sale, during regular business hours. Each address or person is capped at four sales per year, each lasting no more than two consecutive days, and the sale must be held on the seller's own property (multi-family sales are allowed if hosted at one participant's home).

No goods bought for resale, and no consignment goods, may be sold. The sign-specific standard sits in subsection (4)g: directional and advertising signs cannot exceed four square feet, must be freestanding rather than attached to traffic or official signs, utility poles or trees, and have to come down promptly once the sale is over. Because this sits in the accessory-use article of the zoning chapter (Chapter 117, Article VI), enforcement runs through the same code enforcement department that handles the sale registration itself, giving the city one office to call for both the sign and the sale.
