On-premises temporary signs directing patrons to a residential sale are generally permit-exempt if placed on private property. Holding 'too many yard sales' is a listed code violation enforced by Modesto Code Enforcement (209-577-5250).
Exceeding two sales per year or three days per sale constitutes a code violation. Signs on public ROW or utility poles are subject to immediate removal and administrative citation by Code Enforcement.
