Tinley Park, IL Sign Regulations: Political Signs (2026)

Tinley Park's sign code regulates temporary yard signs in residential zones, which include political signs, event signs, and similar displays. Following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Reed v. Town of Gilbert (2015), municipal sign codes must treat temporary signs in a content-neutral manner: political signs cannot be regulated differently from other temporary signs based on their content. Typical Tinley Park rules limit residential temporary signs to approximately 6 square feet per sign with an aggregate limit per lot, and the signs must be on private property with the property owner's consent. Political signs may be displayed on residential private property without a permit.
