In unincorporated Ventura County, signage placed in a storefront window can't cover more than 25 percent of that window's area, and anything over 10 square feet also counts against the store's wall-sign allowance.

That portion of the total window signage area that exceeds ten square feet on any individual business shall be counted toward the attached sign area permitted for that business. Signs attached to the exterior surfaces of windows are prohibited.

Section 8110-6.13 caps window signs at 25 percent of a given window's area. Any portion of the total window signage that exceeds 10 square feet on an individual business is also charged against the attached sign area otherwise permitted for that business, so a large window display can shrink how much wall signage is allowed. The same section, echoed in the general prohibited-signs list at Sec. 8110-4(o), separately bans any sign physically attached to the outside surface of a window.
