Oregon, OH Sign Regulations: Window Signs (2026)

Chapter 1337, Sign Regulations, defines and regulates window signs in three linked sections. 02(jj) defines a "Window Sign" as a sign affixed in any manner to a glass window or door and intended to be seen from the exterior of the building. 03(i), General Sign Provisions, states the operative placement rule in a single sentence: window signs shall be displayed only on the inside of windows, meaning a sign cannot be mounted on the exterior glass or frame and still qualify, nor can it be affixed outside and viewed through the glass.

04(d), which limits changeable-copy area on other sign types to 60% of the display surface; no comparable percentage appears for window signs specifically. 11(f) lists window signs among the sign types that do not require a permit from the Building and Zoning Commissioner, alongside construction signs, political signs, real estate signs and small nameplates. 03(l) lets the Commissioner order repair or removal of a window sign that becomes defective, damaged or substantially deteriorated, with exposed surfaces required to stay clean and painted and open sign faces covered with proper sign face material.
