Oregon, OH Sign Regulations: Political Signs (2026)

Political signs are addressed in three places in Chapter 1337, Sign Regulations. 03(f) sets the core standard: political signs pertaining to the election of one or more persons to public office, or to one or more public issues, shall not be greater than fifteen square feet in sign area, and all political signs must be non-illuminated; the size cap does not apply when a political sign is displayed on a legal nonconforming sign structure. 05(a)(3) then lists political signs, not exceeding fifteen square feet per sign, among the signs permitted in every zoning district in the City, adding that they must be placed only on private property and only with the permission of the property owner, and specifying there is no limit to the number of political signs allowed per lot.

11(c) exempts political signs from the sign permit process altogether, so no application to the Building and Zoning Commissioner is required before posting one. 10(f), which lets the Commissioner require alterations within ten working days of written notice before the City removes a noncompliant sign at the owner's expense.
