Full Breakdown

South Jordan City Code section 16.36.050 exempts certain window signage from the city's sign permit requirement. Interior window displays advertising special promotions -- posters, messages, or other temporary displays mounted on the inside of a window -- may cover up to fifty percent of the total window area without a permit. Neon or other illuminated window signs are treated separately and more strictly: they're capped at two square feet each, with no more than two per business establishment, regardless of window size.

Violations & Fines

Window signage exceeding these caps requires a standard sign permit from the Planning Department; the city can order noncompliant signs removed without advance notice under section 16.36.060.
