Full Breakdown

Victoria's UDO treats window signs as a distinct permanent sign type under Sec. 21-225. A window sign's area is measured as the sum of all window signage on that building face, and it may substitute for a wall sign on the same elevation subject to the same size cap. No single window sign or combination of window signs may obscure more than 30 percent of the visibility through an individual window. Window signs must be made of durable, weather-resistant material, vinyl, wood, canvas, corrugated or reinforced plastic, or foamboard, and if mounted on the outside of the glass, weather-resistant vinyl is required. Direct illumination or reverse lighting of a window sign is prohibited, and adjacent window signs must sit at least six inches apart.

Violations & Fines

Sign permit denial or removal order from Development Services for exceeding the 30% obscuration cap, using non-durable materials, or illuminating a window sign.
