Arcadia, CA Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Section 6613.15 of the Arcadia Municipal Code turns a posted sign into an enforceable no-knock rule in the City of Arcadia, California. A residence, dwelling, flat or apartment carrying the words No Peddlers is protected against peddlers, No Solicitors against solicitors, and No Canvassers against canvassers. A sign reading No Peddlers or Solicitors, or words of similar import indicating that peddlers or solicitors are not wanted, covers both groups. The sign can be painted, affixed or exposed to public view. The tool the code gives residents is the posted sign on the residence itself.

The terms follow Section 6611. Peddling means traveling from place to place with goods, wares or services offered for immediate sale. Soliciting means requesting money or personal property or taking orders for future delivery. Canvassing means advocating or proselytizing on behalf of a religious, charitable, social or political cause. The sign rule does not apply to anyone who rings the bell or knocks at the invitation or with the consent of some adult member of the household.

Section 6613.16 sets the hours: no person practices or engages in peddling, soliciting or canvassing by traveling from place to place, or from street to street, between the hours of dusk and eight a.m. of any day, whether for profit or for a non-profit purpose. Section 6613.19 adds limits for sound devices on vehicles and carts: none between dusk and 8 a.m., none audible beyond 300 feet, and none within 500 feet of a school property line during school hours. Vendors permitted to sell edibles from a conveyance keep amplified sound at or below 90 decibels measured at ten feet from the speaker. Under Section 6613.14(E), no person solicits, peddles or canvasses anyone who has objected by words or conduct.
