Arcadia, CA Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 11.21, added by § 3214.13, bans parking of vehicles on city streets between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. unless the vehicle holds a temporary or annual parking permit. Temporary all night permits are bought at a self-service vending machine at the Police Department for a $3.00 per night fee. Passenger cars and commercial vehicles under six thousand (6,000) pounds have no time limit, but the vending machine permits are not valid for recreational vehicles or trailers, or for commercial vehicles over 6,000 pounds.

An RV or trailer owner needs prior approval from the Chief of Police or his or her designee. Any such approval is for not more than three (3) consecutive days and not more than fifteen (15) days per calendar year, and a special permit is issued at the Records Section after the owner completes a temporary permit request form. The license number must be written on the face of the permit, the permit must be displayed as the Chief of Police specifies, it does not exempt the holder from other City ordinances, the Arcadia Municipal Code or the California Vehicle Code, and the Chief or a designee can deny or revoke it.

Annual all night street parking permits under Section 11.14 (§ 3214.6) are issued only to a passenger vehicle or a commercial vehicle that, with accessories or property on it, does not exceed a width of seven (7) feet, a height of seven (7) feet or a gross vehicle weight of six thousand (6,000) pounds.

For driveways and yards, the Development Code's residential parking-location rule in § 9103.07.050.D.2 requires vehicle parking and access to be on a permanently paved surface. Division 9 of the Development Code defines a Recreational Vehicle as a motor home, travel trailer, truck camper, camping trailer, pop-up camper, or boat or other water sport vehicle designed for recreational purposes, including an empty trailer on which an RV is transported or stored.
