Taylorsville, UT Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Section 5.86.170 of the Taylorsville City Code lets any occupant refuse solicitors simply by displaying a "no solicitation" sign near the main entrance door or near the property line by the sidewalk leading to the residence; the posted sign itself is legal notice that the occupant does not want solicitors, and checking for it before approaching is the solicitor's responsibility. Section 5.86.180(B) turns that notice into an enforceable prohibition: it is a violation of the chapter for anyone soliciting or advocating to knock, ring the doorbell, or otherwise attempt to attract the attention of an occupant at a residence bearing a no-solicitation sign, and holding a valid permit does not excuse it.

The same duty section requires a solicitor asked to leave to depart immediately and peacefully, bars following anyone into a residence without consent, and prohibits repeated solicitation after a clear refusal. Section 5.86.190 layers on a citywide curfew: soliciting at any residence before 9:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m. Mountain Time is unlawful for every solicitor, licensed or not, unless the resident has given express prior permission to come outside those hours. Section 5.86.040(and the closing line of 5.86.040) makes clear that even persons exempt from the permit requirement, such as political canvassers and charitable solicitors, still must obey the no-solicitation-sign and time-of-day duties in 5.86.170 through 5.86.190. A violation of these no-knock and curfew rules is enforced the same way as the rest of chapter 5.86.
