West Sacramento, CA Special Events & Permits: Block Party Permits (2026)

West Sacramento Municipal Code § 12.08.020 defines a block party as an event involving the temporary closure of a public or private right-of-way. Because block parties meet the code's special-event criteria (obstructing right-of-way traffic, drawing a crowd), § 12.08.030 makes them subject to the same rule as every other special event in the City of West Sacramento, Yolo County: no special event may occur without a permit from the special events administrator. Applications for smaller Category I events are due at least 30 days ahead. Under § 12.08.090(K), the SEA may condition a block party permit on approval from a majority of residents on the affected streets before authorizing the closure.
