Code Enforcement under WSMC §19.05 prohibits abandoned, wrecked, dismantled, or inoperative vehicles on private property visible from the public right-of-way. All vehicles must be operable and may be asked to demonstrate operability upon inspection.
Inoperable vehicles may be stored only inside a fully enclosed garage or behind a 6-foot solid fence so they are not visible from streets or neighboring properties. Vehicles must have current registration if parked on a driveway or other paved surface visible to the public. Owners receive a 10-day notice to abate before the vehicle may be towed at owner expense.
Administrative citation $100/$200/$500 plus cost recovery for any tow and storage. Continued non-compliance can also be referred to the City Attorney.
