Bayonne, NJ Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Section 13-5 places Bayonne's parks and playgrounds under the Division of Recreation within the Department of Administration. Paragraph a requires any group or organization applying to use a municipal park or playground for group activities to first provide the City evidence of general liability insurance, issued by a New Jersey-licensed insurer, naming the City of Bayonne as an additional insured, in limits of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $50,000 for property damage. Paragraph b puts the Division of Recreation in charge of writing the rules and regulations governing group activity use, and requires those rules to be prominently posted by notice in or about the particular park; the notice must state that violating the posted rules can bring a fine up to $1,250 at the Municipal Court Judge's discretion, applying the general penalty in Chapter 1, Section 1-5.

Paragraph c exempts Bayonne Board of Education public schools using the parks for a legal purpose from the paragraph a insurance requirement. The same insurance-and-posted-rules framework, with the same $1,000,000/$50,000 limits and $1,250 fine, also governs group activities at the Bayonne Public Library and Museum under the separate Section 13-6.
