Long Branch, NJ Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Under Code § 247-4, a special event permit covers performances, shows, labor strikes, road closings, large gatherings requiring other City permits, protests and demonstrations, on park land, public streets or even quasi-public private property whenever the use could affect public safety or City services. Applications must reach the City Clerk at least 60 days ahead of time for the Special Events Committee to review and the Mayor to approve; filing later triggers a $10-per-day late fee. Permits are classified as City-sponsored, where the City covers service costs, or City-sanctioned, where the applicant pays through an equity account with the Finance Department.

The application must name the applicant, an on-scene manager, the dates and hours requested, the specific park area, expected attendance, any admission charges and the City equipment or services needed. The Committee weighs whether the event will interfere with public enjoyment of the park, obstruct pedestrian or vehicle rights-of-way, burden the City financially, or conflict with an already-reserved date, and requires a certificate of insurance naming the City of Long Branch, Monmouth County, as an additional insured with at least $1,000,000 in coverage. The standard application fee is $50, rising to $100 for the Great Lawn area.
