Middletown, OH Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Section 1070.03 of the Middletown Code governs use of City parks and recreational facilities. Any person conducting an event in a park, or using an athletic field, court, park, or park shelter, needs previous written permission or a rental agreement from the City under section 1070.03(b)(4), and once the City schedules that use, it takes precedence over any other, unscheduled use of the same space under section 1070.03(a)(2). Permit holders must produce and exhibit their permit on request from an authorized City representative, and are bound by, and liable for, any loss, damage or injury connected with their use of park property under section 1070.03(a)(1) and (3).

An authorized person can also demand identification to confirm identity or residency, and anyone refusing, or who fails to leave after being told to, is in violation of the rule under section 1070.03(a)(4). Parks themselves are open 6:00 a.m. to dusk unless otherwise posted, but permitted events can extend beyond those hours with prior written City permission under section 1070.03(b)(1). The City Manager or a designee sets recreation program fees under section 1070.03(c), and the same official, or City Council, can waive the park rules for a particular request, special condition or event where enforcing them would not be practical under section 1070.03(d)(2).

The Robert 'Sonny' Hill Jr. Community Center, a separate City-owned facility, carries its own published rental schedule, from $75 for a meeting room up to $300 for the gym and multipurpose room combined for residents, under section 1067.02.
