Ridgewood, NJ Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Article IX of Chapter 212, Parks and Recreation Areas, added April 11, 2018 by Ordinance No. 3640, sets out how a resident or group books a Village Hall meeting room, and it is administered by the Parks and Recreation Department rather than a separate events office. Section 212-31 requires the application to reach the Director of Parks and Recreation, or a designee, at least 30 calendar days before the requested date, along with a signed hold-harmless agreement, acceptance of the Ridgewood Community Center Policies and Procedures, and the fees set in Chapter 145.

Certain uses also require a certificate of liability insurance with a minimum of $2,000,000 in aggregate coverage naming the Village of Ridgewood as an additional insured. Bookings are ranked in five priority classes, from Class A official Village and Board of Education business meetings down to Class E nonresident groups, with local Ridgewood clubs that are at least 60% Ridgewood-resident members and carry a Village mailing address sitting in Class C. Three rooms are available on Level 1 of Village Hall: the Garden Room, seating 12 to 25; the Senior Lounge, seating 25 to 30 at tables or 50 in chairs; and the Youth Lounge, holding up to 75 at tables or 150 total.

Conduct rules bar alcohol, smoking within 25 feet of the building, gambling or raffles, and require adult supervision of anyone under 18. for an evening booking, and any use running past that closing time triggers additional security-coverage and room-rental charges with a one-hour minimum. Separately, § 212-7 lets the Village Manager, with Council approval, promulgate rules governing the outdoor use of Village parks, playgrounds and open spaces, so an outdoor park gathering runs through Village Manager regulations rather than the Article IX room-booking process.
