Hialeah regulates sidewalk and patio dining district by district rather than through a single citywide sidewalk-cafe ordinance, and the CR commercial-residential district's rule is one of the most specific in the code. Sec. 98-877(a)(9) permits restaurants and cafes outright, but supper clubs and nightclubs, including any venue offering live entertainment, need a special use permit first, and adult entertainment is barred outright. m. Supper clubs and nightclubs get no outdoor dining allowance whatsoever, even with a special use permit. Sec. 98-878 backs up the physical setup, requiring that display, sales and service activities stay inside enclosed buildings except that cafes and outdoor dining areas may sit in open or partially open space within the property line.

Other commercial districts run different numbers: the M-1 industrial district's Sec. cutoff, one hour earlier than the CR district allows. A restaurant weighing a Hialeah location should confirm its zoning district before assuming either curfew applies, since the two districts do not share the same closing time.
