The City of Sunrise Building Division permits above-ground pools under the same rules as in-ground pools, covering electrical bonding, GFCI protection, and the safety barrier of Sec. 16-111. Under LDC Sec. 16-118(b), the water's edge cannot be within 5 feet of any side or rear plot line, the patio slab must stay at least 3 feet off that line, and nothing may sit over a utility or drainage easement. A pool wall may serve as the barrier only if it meets the Florida Building Code residential barrier standard.
An unpermitted above-ground pool needs a retroactive permit or removal, and safety violations require immediate correction. Drainage cannot discharge onto neighboring lots.
