NYS RC Appendix G (effective May 12, 2020) requires barriers at least 48 inches above grade outside the enclosure, gates opening away from the pool with latches at least 40 inches high on the pool side, max 2-inch bottom gap, and max 2.25-inch chain-link mesh. Permits and inspections for private residential pools are handled by each municipal building department.
