San Bernardino County carts must be placed at the curb no earlier than 6 PM the evening before collection and removed by 8 PM on collection day. Store out of public view between pickups.
San Bernardino County Code and franchised hauler agreements establish cart placement standards for unincorporated areas. Carts should be placed at the curb with wheels facing the property, at least 3 feet from other carts, mailboxes, parked cars, or obstructions, no earlier than 6 PM the day before scheduled pickup. Carts must be removed from the public view no later than 8 PM on collection day. Between pickups, carts must be stored in side yards, behind gates, in garages, or otherwise out of public view from the street per Development Code property-maintenance standards. Violation of placement or storage rules is a Code Enforcement matter. In High Desert communities with larger rural lots, storage enforcement is less common but still applies when carts are visible from the public right-of-way. Winter storms in mountain areas may disrupt scheduled pickups β contact your hauler for service alerts.
Cart left at curb beyond 8 PM collection day: warning, then citation. Carts stored in public view: Code Enforcement citation under property-maintenance provisions.
