Carts must be placed at the curb the morning of collection (or the evening before) and brought back behind the property line after pickup. Rialto Municipal Code Title 8 (Health & Sanitation) prohibits leaving carts in public view between collection days.
Place the black trash, blue recycling, and green organics carts at the curb in front of your residence with handles toward the house and wheels toward the street, with at least three feet of clearance on all sides (away from parked cars, mailboxes, fire hydrants, low branches, and other carts) so the automated arm can lift them. Burrtec's published Barrel Guide and the City's Trash & Recycling Service Rules direct that excess green waste must be bundled no larger than 18 inches in diameter and 4 feet long, or placed in clear plastic bags or 30-gallon trash cans beside the green cart. Rocks, concrete, and dirt may not be placed in any curbside container. Storing carts in public view between pickup days, or blocking sidewalks/streets, is a Title 8 nuisance.
Containers left at the curb beyond the collection day, blocking sidewalks, or placed in a way that obstructs traffic are subject to administrative citation under RMC Title 8 and Title 1 general penalty provisions. Overloaded or contaminated carts may be refused service and the resident billed for an extra pickup.
