Rialto contracts with Burrtec Waste Industries (per Title 8 Health & Sanitation franchise) for weekly residential collection of trash, recycling, and green/organic waste. When a holiday falls on a weekday, service is delayed one day for the remainder of that week.
Single-family residential customers receive three carts: black (trash), blue (recycling), and green (organics/green waste). Pickup occurs once per week on the route day assigned to your address; the City publishes a Trash Collection Schedule PDF and a smartphone app (App Store / Google Play) with personalized reminders. Holidays that bump service one day include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. For service questions call Burrtec at 909-877-1596; for code enforcement call Solid Waste Management at 909-820-2602. Scavenging (removal of materials from any solid waste container set out for collection) is prohibited under Rialto Municipal Code §8.08.030 and is punishable as a misdemeanor.
Theft of recyclables or trash from a set-out container is punishable under RMC §8.08.030 (scavenging) and Cal. Pen. Code §496 (theft). Missing the franchised hauler by self-hauling without a permit can violate the exclusive-franchise terms of the Burrtec contract.
