Ontario residents receive weekly curbside collection of trash, recycling, and organics from Burrtec Waste Industries, with carts placed out by 6:00 a.m. and removed within 24 hours.
The City of Ontario has an exclusive solid waste franchise with Burrtec Waste Industries under Ontario Municipal Code Title 4 Chapter 4. Every occupied residence must subscribe to weekly service which includes a 95-gallon gray trash cart, a blue recycling cart, and a green organics cart (food scraps plus yard waste) to comply with California SB 1383 organic waste diversion rules. Carts must be placed at the curb no earlier than 5:00 p.m. the evening before collection and no later than 6:00 a.m. on collection day, and must be removed from public view by midnight on collection day. Carts must be placed at least 3 feet apart from each other, other obstacles, and parked vehicles so Burrtec automated arms can access them. Materials piled next to the cart are not collected unless they are pre-arranged bulky items. Contamination of the recycling or green cart with prohibited items can trigger a fee and will be tagged by the driver. Missed pickups can be reported to Burrtec at (909) 947-3945 within 24 hours.
