Ontario residents get up to 4 free bulky item pickups per year from Burrtec, scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by calling (909) 947-3945 or through the MyBurrtec portal.
Single-family and small multifamily customers in Ontario receive up to four (4) free bulky waste pickups per calendar year under the exclusive franchise agreement between the City and Burrtec Waste Industries. Each pickup may include up to three large items such as mattresses, couches, appliances, carpet rolls, or electronic waste (televisions, computers, monitors). Bulky items must be scheduled at least 24 hours before the service date, placed at the curb no earlier than the evening before, and separated at least 3 feet from trash carts. Refrigerators and freezers must be empty and have freon professionally removed or tagged by a licensed technician before pickup under federal Clean Air Act Section 608. Construction debris, hazardous waste, paint, motor oil, car batteries, and tires are not accepted as bulky items; these must be taken to the Burrtec transfer station or the West Valley Household Hazardous Waste facility in Fontana. Illegally dumping bulk items on streets, alleys, or vacant lots violates OMC Section 5-2.05 and is subject to fines up to 1,000 dollars and cleanup cost recovery.
